In the Mustaffa Kattab translation
“If only we had listened AND reasoned...”
should be
“If only we had listened OR reasoned...”
The word aw was used in Arabic, not the word wa. It is confirmed in the ibn Katheer tafsir too.
By using "or" Allah is saying even if you would have just used your brains and thought, you too would understood that the Messenger was legit.

Aw here could mean and/or. Both things are required to give them Jannah. This style is very common in the Quran.
