In The Clear Quran by Dr. Mustafa, verse 18 includes the word “Meccans” in the translation. This insertion creates a contextual problem. because verses 29:16–18 are part of a continuous passage where Allah is narrating what Prophet Abraham said to his people. Verse 16 introduces Ibrahim speaking to his people, and the message continues through verse 18.

Because of this, adding “Meccans” in verse 18 is misleading, as the verse is not directly addressing the people of Makkah at that point, but rather continuing the account of Ibrahim’s warning to his own people.
