Bug Report: Bangla Character Search Not Functioning Properly in 'Advanced Search' Feature
Arif
I wanted to bring to your attention that the Bangla character search is not working in the 'Advance Search' feature. This is causing difficulty in finding specific Quran verses related to our daily life. It would be greatly appreciated if this feature could be fixed soon, and may Allah Subhanahu Ta'ala guide you to implement the necessary changes.
Assalamu Alaikum!

Comprehensive Search
Mohammad Islam
Summary:
(1) Include search results for derived words from the original root word.
(2) Start with Arabic language first. Then English. And then slowly implement for other languages also.
Explanation:
As of today, Aug 29, 2023, the search results only include exact match of the search phrases. This is a very good start for beginners.
As for advanced users, specially the ones interested in deep research would also appreciate a comprehensive search option. There could be two search options: (1) Basic, and (2) Advanced.
Let me give you an example:
When I search with the word: شكر it shows only 2 results. The comprehensive search results should also include the derived words from this root words. For example: أشكر or ٱشكر تشكر etc.
I suggest, try these 3 steps to better understand with an example:
Step 1:
Search with "شكر" (without quote)
Notice how many search results appear.
Step 2:
Now, search with "grat
thank
" (without quote)Step 3:
Press Cmd+F (Mac) or Ctrl+F (Windows) and type شكر to search within your search results.
Also notice the search also includes results for شكر and شكور
Note: I am not an Arabic literate. I don't know Arabic at all. I am only an average lay Quran reader. If you consult with an Arabic language expert, they will إِنْ شَاءَ ٱللَّٰهُ be able to help you in depth.
Once you are able to implement this comprehensive search feature for Arabic language, then implement the same for English. And then for other languages.
I'm not sure if a Natural Language AI Model would help expedite your development effort. If there are not too many "root" words in Arabic, this should not take too long to train the model, right? Just a hunch!
May Allah accept and reward your good efforts. جَزَاكَ ٱللَّٰهُ خَيْرًا

Assalamu alaykum.
Can we vectorize the Quran? So that we can search contextually rather than by just word matching.
Also, it would be great if those generated embeddings are made available to the public.
I'm eager to make any donation in this regard.
Jazakallahu Khair!

lingustic and semantic searching
a
adeel
is it possible to make linguistic searches available across the book. e.g. I want to be able to search for all the places where sajda is advised. Other options of applying tagging, bookmarking, and linking to build a knowledge graph of linguistic context. This may further help in Question/Answering like finding out where it justifies alcohol as haram and one can link through all the places in book as a tag for alcohol. Or, when you want to find out all the places where quran talks about 5 times prayer, or does it only mention 3 times prayer. In other cases, it may just be finding repetitions of the same phrases. In same manner of linking to jurisprudence, context of duas, and other topics. Could even extend topic tag as part of a theme. This could further be extended for translations and discoverability. This is all to add contextual meaning to the text. One could also extend this to linking the quran via the fingerprint method as a hash of the muqatta'at letters. Things like this may help visualize and identify the patterns and dynamic structure of the quran.

Improve Search 'suicide'
shakib
there's verse in the Quran about killing one's own self (4:29). But when I search using keyword 'suicide', 'don't kill yourself', this verse doesn't appear in results.
Rather than matching exact words from translation texts, search results should be provided getting some ideas from Tafsir texts. Then it'll be more accurate.

Ali Abbas
To clarify the previous post, the search is not working for Maulana Wahiduddin Khan. There are 0 results for any search with that translation.
